Final 2026-27 county budget (supplemental changes) Item 89-95

Budgets

The last step of the annual budget: the Board adopted supplemental changes that make the county's 2026-27 budget final. The CEO put the total at $54.2 billion, $3.9 billion more than the June budget, mostly from one-time money. The budget funds the county's second annual $1.2 billion payment on childhood sexual assault settlements under AB 218, reallocates $391.1 million from lower-priority accounts, and cuts budgeted positions by a net 250 (to 115,433), including a net 195 vacant Public Health positions. Item 94 also reaffirms the hiring freeze and authorizes funding agreements. Item 89 received a homeless services department report on the Affordable Housing Programs budget unit. Items 90 and 93 are year-end and fund-balance adjustments from the auditor-controller. Item 91 covers Health Services' year-end adjustments; the CEO said Health Services had about $1.44 billion in fund balance at the end of 2025-26. Item 92 closes out Public Health's books. Item 95 confirms the final budget.
