Disclosure rules for retirement and health board elections — continued one week Item 33

Elections and ballot measuresEthics and meeting rulesPay and pensions

An ordinance (file 250928), sent from the Government Audit and Oversight Committee without recommendation, that would amend the Administrative Code to eliminate statement-of-intention disclosures and reporting requirements for candidates for the Retirement Board, the Health Service Board and the Retiree Health Care Trust Fund Board, eliminate disclosure requirements for third parties making independent expenditures for or against those candidates, and delete the related training, audit and enforcement provisions. The board did not debate it and put it off for a week. In public comment, three speakers tied to a retiree group raised concerns about legislation on these board elections.

  • Motion to continue the item one week, seconded by Shamann Walton (Supervisor, District 10); the transcript renders the mover as Chen, which could be Chyanne Chen (Supervisor, District 11) or Connie Chan (Supervisor, District 1). Result: continued, without objection.
